Truckson LaFrance started the LaFrance Manufactoring Company in 1872. the company's main objective was to produce hand pumps and rotary steam engines. Over the next three decades, the piston steam engine replaced the rotary steam engine. Then came the screw-driven ladder truck that helped a new class of urban firefighters. In 1903, the company became the American LaFrance Fire Engine Company. In 1907, the first motorized fire engine was manufactured, which then sparked the growth of thousands of fire trucks. American LaFrance apparatus is easily recognized. This newest addition to the Texaco line is a keepsake you will cherish for years.
