The Curtiss Robin looks meek and mild, but in fact, it was a real work horse. Originally designed as an affordable and practical aircraft, the plane made use of the then-common World War I surplus 90 HP OX-5 engine.
The OX-5 engine was used in a number of WWI pilot training aircraft, helping to ready pilots for upcoming air battles of "The Great War" and ultimately victory. After the war, thousands of relatively inexpensive war-surplus OX-5 engines were installed into various general aviation aircraft.
The easy availability of this engine help to make the Robin a hit with private and corporate owners who required an enclosed cabin and an easy operation.
Adult collectible designed for use by persons 14 years of age and older.
