Bill - California | Review Date: 3/28/2022 4:22:16 PM | Overall Rating | Experience Level: High | Purchased for: Personal Collection | 5 | I have tried many display options for my cars, and these Greenlight cases are my favorite. I own over a hundred of them, and will buy more. They look great, the slots are big enough to hold most toys 1:60 and smaller, the doors keep my cars dust-free, they are easy to mount, and they can be configured to fit odd-sized spaces.
SIZE OF THE SLOTS: They are deeper, wider, and taller than any similar cases I've seen. Each GL slot can hold one 1:60 or smaller car, OR two HO cars, OR three N-scale cars. I create dioramas in the slots!
LINKING: They can be linked top-to-bottom or side to side. I link them top to bottom a lot, and find that a great time saver. They DO tend to bow away from the wall at more than three high, so I tape the backs to hold them flat. Opening the upper boxes in a stack can be tricky, as my fingernails are very short - I use a credit card.
MOUNTING THEM - please ignore the mounting screws that come with the cases. They require you to drill two perfectly aligned holes, sink two dry-wall anchors, then drive two screws. For a case that weighs at most two pounds fully loaded. Ridiculous. What I use, and recommend, are "Hommie Picture Hangers Nails 20lbs," available at most hardware stores. Two at the top are more than strong enough to hold a linked, fully-loaded stack of five cases.
